Bend

Bending strength (also known as flexural strength) measures a material’s resistance to bending stress without breaking. Three-point or four-point bending testing is typically carried out on an universal testing machine using the necessary bending fixtures.

From measuring the snap of biscuits to testing suspension parts in cars, bending strengths are used in a wide array of applications. Common materials tested using this method include: advanced composites, ceramics, metals, plastics, and wood.
