SYNTAX 5 Compact Universal Testing Machine – 5 kN

SYNTAX 5 Compact Universal Testing Machine – 5 kN

Manufactured by 3R Industries

Designed and manufactured in France, the SYNTAX 5 single column Universal Testing Machine (UTM) has a compact footprint for easy installation on standard laboratory benchtops.

It’s suitable for precision testing of low-force and soft materials, such as adhesives, biomedical specimens, elastomers, plastics, and textiles.

The machine can achieve up to 5 kN force capacity and has a highly rigid load frame that provides high axial stiffness (~5 kN/mm) and minimal frame deflection, ensurng reliable strain measurement

Benefits

  • Significantly smaller footprint compared to other UTMs.
  • Suitable for teaching and routine quality control tests.
  • Offers precise testing of low-force and soft materials.
  • Force and position are measured with 10 million-count resolution.
  • Accuracy complies with ISO 7500-1 and Class 0.5 (0.2 % FS).
  • Rigid load frame has two chrome-plated guide columns and a preloaded ball-screw assembly to ensure accurate material analysis.
  • Preloaded ball screw is backlash-free, meaning force is transmitted directly to the specimen without lost motion.
  • New high-performance controller.
  • Crosshead speeds from 1 µm to ~600 mm/min support quasi-static testing and faster cyclic sequences.
  • Crosshead position resolution of 0.1 µm and position accuracy of class 0.2 (ISO 9513) support small-strain applications.
  • Easy integration — single phase 230 V power, low footprint (approx. 450 x 550 x 1,300 mm) and ~120 kg mass facilitate installation in labs.
  • Remote “BlackBox” control unit houses power electronics and signal conditioning.
  • Vertical test space (1000 mm daylight). Option to go larger if needed.
  • Tensile tester calibration service available.
  • Choose from a wide range of Universal Testing Machine Accessories, including grips, environmental chambers, and extensometers.
  • A full range of load cells from 1N up to the capacity of the frame are available.

Software

This tensile tester comes supplied with comprehensive and user-friendly Synt-X software, enabling operators to move quickly from setup to execution, while ensuring consistency and repeatability. With features like automatic generation of customised test reports and pre-configuration of products and specimens, it helps users focus on their tests by reducing setup time and minimise operator errors.

The Synt-X test control software is designed, developed, and maintained in-house by 3R’s engineering team, guaranteeing long-term compatibility and continuous improvement for routine production testing, advanced research, and standard-compliant mechanical tests.

Suitable Types Of Tests

The SYNTAX 5 compact material testing machine offers precise control and measurement for a wide range of tests in industries such as plastics and composites, paper and packaging, and textiles. Tests that can be performed on this instrument include:

  • Compression.
  • Cyclitic.
  • Flexural.
  • Hardness.
  • Peel.
  • Shear.
  • Tensile.
  • Thermal and climatic.
