AML Instruments have teamed up with Kern to provide you with several hanging scales and crane scales to choose from, covering total load capacities from 60kg to 50 Tonnes.
All our crane and hanging scales are built to safely and accurately weigh all your hanging loads. Some models have Ingress Protection such as IP67, which provides total resistance to dust and water spray, enabling them to operate in harsh environments like construction sites.
For further peace of mind, they all have the TÜV certification mark too, meaning your crane weighing scales meet the requirements of the standard EN 13155 (Non-fixed load lifting attachments / Breakage resistance) and EN 61010-1 (Electrical safety).
Most models have a radio remote control as standard, allowing you to use them from 20m away and safely manage your weighing tasks from a distance. With a rechargeable, internal battery, you’ll also have freedom of movement around your facility without being limited by the need for a power supply.
If you require any technical advice or want more details about any of our crane scales and their accessories, please get in touch. We promise we won’t leave you hanging.

Sometimes referred to as a hanging scale, a crane scale is a specialised, precision weighing device used to weigh large, heavy items suspended from cranes, hoists, and overhead beams. Knowing the real-time weight of your large or awkwardly shaped suspended loads is important, as it ensures you don’t overload a lifting device or a crane.
Crane scales are typically attached between the crane’s hook and the hanging load, which are connected to a central load cell. Attached to the load cell is a sensor called a strain gauge. Once you’ve hung the weight on the scale and exerted force on the load cells, the sensor detects the tension and converts the force into a readable weight measurement.
Accuracy – Our calibrated, digital crane scales from Kern provide a far more accurate digital read-out than older, traditional scales, typically offering precision within ±0.2% of their maximum capacity (Full Scale).
High Capacity Weighing – Our range enables you to choose a crane scale that can weigh items up to 50 tonnes.
Safety – A crane scale allows you to weigh heavy items without putting your staff in harm’s way. Most of our scales can be operated and read from 20 meters away with the radio remote control, which also eliminates the tripping hazard inherent in running wires.
Space-saving within your facility – Bench and pallet truck scales can take up a lot of floor space, unlike a crane scale which can be pretty much stored anywhere without being a hazard to other warehouse traffic, such as forklift trucks and employees. This makes them perfect for industrial job sites with limited storage space.
Time-Saving – It’s nearly always easier to take the crane scale to the item rather than the item to a platform scale, saving both time and money. Digital crane scales also speed up the weighing process, offering improved efficiency through instant readings and reducing the time required for manual measurements.
Weigh Awkwardly Shaped Items – Not all items requiring weighing will sit perfectly on a set of platform scales. So, being able to suspend them and get an accurate reading helps solve this unique logistical challenge.
Providing they are treated respectfully, our heavy duty crane scales are durable and long-lasting. They are often made from resilient materials such as steel or aluminium, while the robust design and the bright LED display enabling you to use our crane scales in unfavourable ambient conditions.
The scales often have a IP67 rating enabling them to be used in various environments, withstanding arduous conditions docks and building sites.
The accuracy of your crane weighing scales will vary depending on the model and manufacturer, but regular maintenance and calibration will ensure your measurements are reliable and on-point. Factors such as environmental conditions and load cell quality can also influence accuracy.
High-quality, electronic crane scales are designed to be very accurate, offering precision readouts and data to within a few grams. However, it’s still important to choose a scale that meets industry standards and your accuracy specifications.
Our expert team is here to help you find the right crane scale for your application and budget to help improve safety, save time, and protect revenue. Contact AML Instruments today to ensure your weighing device provides accurate load measurements and meets your operational requirements.
