Schopper Twin Head Folding Endurance Tester
Manufactured by Techlab Systems
Manufacturers involved in papermaking and security printing use this Schopper Method Twin Folding Endurance Tester to determine the folding strength of high mechanical strength papers up to 0.25mm thick.
It’s especially recommended for security papers, such as those used to produce banknotes, passports, government documents, tamper-evident labels, etc., where there is a direct correlation between the folding endurance and actual strength of the paper.
During the test, two opposed, movable horizontal jaws are used to hold a 15 x 100mm specimen under varying tension during the bending cycle. This helps laboratories and manufacturers working with high-performance and security-grade papers ensure they’re durable enough for their intended end-use and assess how the paper will age over time.
Two opposed, movable horizontal jaws are used to hold a 15 × 100 mm specimen under varying
tension during the bending cycle.
A sliding grooved sheet moves between 4 bending rollers, folding the paper at 115 ± 10 strokes per
minute.
The spring applied tension is 1000 g (9.81 N).
Once the sample breaks, the results are displayed individually on the touch screen.
