Cobb Tester / Cobb Sizing Tester

Cobb testers are widely used across the paper, board, printing, and converting industries to determine the amount of water absorbed by the sample over a given time period (typically 60 or 180 seconds).

The water absorbed is quoted in g/m², while the absorbency of the material can have a significant effect on the performance and printability of water-based adhesives.

This strong cobb tester has a 10 kg weight stainless steel roller and is spring loaded for quick and easy clamping of the sample, ensuring fast, repeatable testing.

Standard size of metal cylinder inner test area is 100 cm². Sample test areas of 50 cm², 25 cm², & 10 cm² are also available for testing smaller sample sizes of paper and board.
Supplied as standard with a 10 Kg ± 0.5 kg roller 200mm long. If you don’t require the roller, please let us know and we can supply without.
Conforms to all major cobb tester test methods and international standards, including DIN 53132, SCAN P12, and TAPPI T441 (see specifications for full standards list).
All other accessories required for this test can be supplied, including a 001 g resolution balance, stop watch, measuring cylinder and standard blotting paper.
Cobb sizing tester calibration service available.
Semiautomatic Cobb Sizing Tester also available, which makes the test easier to perform and is suitable for both water and oil cobb tests.
