Short Span Compression Tester SCT
Manufactured by Techlab Systems
This Short Span Compression Tester is used to measure the compressive strength of paper and cardboard samples by the SCT method (0.7mm short distance compression between jaws). The SCT compression test is performed using a 15mm wide paper or cardboard specimen and compresses until failure occurs.
The characteristics of a material (namely the compressive strength) can be determined by the SCT method to a much higher degree of accuracy than more traditional methods such as the Ring Crush Test (RCT), Concora Linear Test or Linear Crush Test (LCT), and Concora Corrugated Crush Test (CCT).
International standards specify this method for determining the compressive strength both in the machine direction of the fibres and in the transverse direction on paper and cardboard.
AS/NZ 1301.4SO RP, BS 7325, DIN 54518, ISO 9895, SCAN P46, and TAPPI T826.
