ART-ULTS Unrestrained Linear Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus

Manufactured by Artemis Instruments

The Unrestrained Linear Thermal Film Shrinking Apparatus is ideal for polymer testing labs within the flexible packaging industry for analysing the percentage shrinkage rates of polymer films.

Cost-effective and simple to use, it’s designed in accordance with international test standard ASTM D2732 and uses a liquid immersion testing method to accurately maintain the test temperature to +/- 0.1 °C.

To compliment the apparatus, a 100mm x 100mm cutting template is supplied as standard, so test samples can be accurately cut with a sharp blade to the required sample dimensions.

Important: The apparatus is available in both 110-120V (60 Hz) and 220-240 (50 Hz) configurations to suit international power standards.

Benefits

  • Simple determination of thermal film shrinkage using the liquid immersion method.
  • Integrated temperature bath manufactured from 316 stainless steel and fitted with a 16th Din PID digital temperature controller, heater and a PT100 platinum resistance thermometer for precise temperature control.
  • Temperature resolution +/- 0.1 ֯.
  • Thermal stability +/- 0.2 ֯.
  • Stirrer motor is fitted within the bath, and the duration of the test monitored by a built in electronic timer to ensure temperature stability.
  • Internally the bath is fitted with a sample rack (also made from 316 stainless steel) and is supplied with eight stainless steel sample holders which are immersed in a heat transfer medium.
  • Test results are plotted on a graph showing percentage shrinkage against temperature.
  • Emergency stop and over temperature thermostat.
  • Fully traceable certificate of calibration and instrument user manual.
  • UKCA/CE Certified.

How To Perform A Test On The Unrestrained Linear Thermal Film Shrinking Apparatus

To perform a test the apparatus is heated to test temperature and the test samples immersed in the heat transfer medium. After 10 seconds they are removed and allowed to cool back to room temperature. A measurement of the sample is taken across longitudinal and transverse directions and the percentage shrinkage calculated against its original size.
