Brightness

Understanding the brightness of something enables us to look at much light is given out by that material or object over time, and its perceived brightness to the human eye. Common applications include the optical brightness of paper and packaging materials, and in the bleaching quality in the pulp of the paper.

This is vital for the visual appearance and perceived quality of a material. Brightness measurement of white paper is critical to assure a quality product with uniform appearance between batches or different manufacturers.
