Relative Humidity Meter & Moisture Calibration | AML Instruments

Relative Humidity Meter & Moisture Calibration

Onsite and Offsite Service

Measuring the relative humidity in the air helps us create comfortable, efficient, and safe environments, as well as ensuring products maintain their quality and shelf life. Whether it’s environmental monitoring of your laboratories and offices, or protecting the integrity of building materials, AML Instruments can help you achieve accurate relative humidity measurements.

All our relative humidity meter and moisture calibration services are fully traceable to national standards using UKAS calibrated equipment. Our friendly, knowledgeable engineers calibrate a wide range of relative humidity meter and moisture equipment from mini humidity data loggers to environmental and climatic chambers.

The engineers will also adjust your equipment to bring it back in within specification or provide advice on replacing probes and equipment. Should a fixable fault be found in your relative humidity instrument, we also have a dedicated repair technician who will be happy to take a look at it.

What is relative humidity calibration?

Relative humidity calibration is the comparison of a relative humidity sensor (also known as a hygrometer) against a correctly calibrated reference instrument at pre-determined calibration points. This is generally done by using a specialist humidity chamber or creating a stable test atmosphere with a sample humidity. This is then measured using the respective instruments to compare the readings for measurement drift.

Our relative humidity sensor calibration services

Whether you choose on-site (we visit you) or off-site (you send your relative humidity and temperature meters to us), we understand time is money. That’s why we always aim to deliver an efficient, fast, and precise service on your relative humidity measuring tools, from same-day results from an on-site calibration to a maximum turnaround time of five working days with our off-site services.

The fastest way to achieve relative humidity compliance

On-site calibration is normally the best bet if you have a large number of hygrometers, moisture meters, etc., that need calibrating. As equipment doesn’t need to be removed from your workplace, it’s also the best way to minimise disruption to your operations, enabling you to maintain productivity.

Give us a tinkle to book a suitable date and time for one of our engineers to come and calibrate your relative humidity equipment on the spot.

Why not send us your relative humidity measurement instruments instead?

We’ve a dedicated in-house team that deal with inbound calibration work every day. All you need to do is post us your equipment to our HQ in Lincolnshire, and we’ll have it back with you in five working days (often sooner). If time isn’t on your side, an express 24-48 hour express service or “Calibrate While You Wait” options are available if pre-booked.

All consignments sent from our facility are sent securely via UPS. Our Goods In / Goods Out guy will also provide tracking details to you via email on the date of order shipment.

In 2025, AML also launched a local calibration collection and delivery service to support local businesses with their calibration needs, so this is another option worth exploring if your business is based within 35 miles of our calibration laboratory (postcode LN1 2WE).

Why is it important to get your relative humidity measuring equipment calibrated?

Ensuring your instruments are delivering precise humidity and temperature measurements helps prevent issues like condensation, corrosion, and mould. They’re also vital for ensuring product quality and maintaining safety — a temperature disparity of just 1°C can impact a humidity measurement by as much as 3-4%.

Just think of how the correct humidity levels can help manufacturers in the food industry prevent food spoilage or the health risks posed if injectable pharmaceutical products such as insulin and vaccines are not subject to precise humidity control.

Should a fixable fault be found in your relative humidity instrument, we also have a dedicated repair technician who will be happy to take a look at it.

How often should humidity calibration be carried out?

One calibration per year will normally suffice, but some customers need their relative humidity meters and sensors calibrating at more relevant intervals because of the critical nature of their work. For example, applications involving high temperature and/or humidity or harsh chemicals.

Always refer to the manufacturer’s handbook for guidance if you’re ever in doubt, or contact AML’s  customer service team for expert advice.
