AML Instruments are delighted to announce the acquisition of Calibration Engineer Gavin Blurton from CoMech Metrology. Gavin brings a wealth of experience to the AML team and has already been up and down the country carrying out a variety of calibration work for our customers, including dimensional, electrical, and pressure.
Gavin started at CoMech as a Production Controller, managing the control of assets and the flow of them in and out the business as well as around the company. It was in 2018 when he got into calibration “by accident really” when his then manager Lorna saw the potential he had and asked if he’d like to help in the lab and onsite.
Starting off in the dimensional lab and helping occasionally with onsite work. Gavin found a love for the role and his manager took him on as a trainee calibration technician. After a year or so wanting to broaden and expand his knowledge, he trained heavily in pressure, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
In 2022 Gavin also became fully qualified in Human Vibration and the two sectors within it — HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome) & WBV (Whole Body Vibration). If that wasn’t enough, Gavin is also a trained and competent Welding Calibration engineer along with Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), and has obtained a Level Three Diploma in Technical Engineering Support.
Away from all-things calibration, Gavin’s hobbies and interests revolve around his family, partner, and children. He enjoys going on day trips and activity weekends with the Mrs and kids. He enjoys snooker and pool; and for the last 12 months has been teaching the kids how to play down at the local snooker and pool house.
Gavin Blurton: Calibration Engineer At AML Instruments.
Despite only being part of the AML team a short while, Blurton admitted he already feels at home:
“Since my first day at AML the team have been so welcoming and helpful. I’ve only been at AML for the last 10 weeks (‘ish) and I’ve enjoyed the whole experience so far! I already feel like part of the team. Even with a calibration background like mine I’m learning something new every week!”
AML’s Managing Director Alex Leeson added:
“We’re really pleased to have Gavin at AML. He brings great experience in different calibration disciplines, with his technical skillset, knowledge, and customer-focused approach aligning perfectly with our values. Gavin has hit the ground running, travelling the length of the country to support our customers, and his contribution is already making a positive impact. We look forward to seeing him grow with us as we continue to strengthen our calibration capabilities and onsite resources across the UK.”
AML Instruments has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner in test equipment calibration, supply, and repair services across multiple industries. With the addition of Gavin to the team, the company is poised to enhance its onsite calibration capabilities and further expand its market presence.
