Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester is available with between 4 and 9 test stations. It is used to test the abrasion and pilling resistance of all types of fabric. The original Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester was designed by Dr Martindale in the 1940’s.
Martindale Abrasion Test
Is the measure of the wear to the surface of the textile while rubbing it with another material. This is an important test to determine durability of the product. The Martindale abrasion test takes a sample of the textile and rubs it against an abrasive material in a shape of a lissajous pattern.
Martindale Piling Test
Pilling is when small balls of fibres become entangled on the surface of the fabric. Pilling is unattractive in most products and the Martindale gives a way to test for this. The Martindale pilling test rubs the fabric sample over the same fabric or an abundant fabric at defined and closely controlled force in a shape of a lissajous pattern.

Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester
The Martindale is touch screen operated is a unique design which allows removal of individual sample holders without lifting the top motion plate. Each test station has a counter, park function & timer. Test weights for 9 kPa & 12 kPa as well as standard sample holders are included with this tester. There are options for 4, 6 or 9 test stations. PLC controlled with large touch screen user interface making this a easy to use tester with the minimum of user training.
