ART-DDi20 Falling Dart Drop Tester
This dart drop impact tester provides an advanced method for testing impact resistance, over the DDi10 model. It’s integrated with a dedicated microprocessor and 7” touch screen interface, while test results and sample batches are simple to calculate and report.
Compliant with methods A & B of the ASTM D1709 and ISO 7765 testing standards, the dart drop tester is multi-voltage and designed to be bench mounted at a 660mm drop height. However, it can be easily placed on a floor if the 1.5m drop height test is required and you have limited ceiling height.
It’s supplied as standard with an aluminium dart with a 38.1mm (1 1/2″) spherical radius tup and a set of binary weights for testing up to 2kg in drop mass. Additional weights can be supplied if required.
Predominantly used in the flexible packaging industry, the ART-DDi20 provides a sophisticated method for determining the energy that causes plastic film or other flexible materials, usually no greater than 0.25mm, to fail under impact from a free falling dart. The energy required to tear or puncture the test specimen is expressed in terms of the darts weight (mass) which would result in the failure of 50% of specimens being tested.
