ART-ESCR Environmental Stress Cracking Apparatus
Manufactured by Artemis Instruments
Used to analyse the Environmental Stress-Cracking Resistance (ESCR) of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), this apparatus is ideal for polymer testing labs.
It comes with a integrated temperature bath manufactured from 316 stainless steel. This high-precision instrument is managed by a 1/16 DIN PID digital temperature controller, heater, and a PT100 platinum resistance thermometer which delivers exceptional accuracy by ensuring the system maintains critical test temperatures (typically 50 °C or 100 °C) with a precision of ±0.5 °C.
Important: This apparatus can be supplied in either 110-120v 60 Hz and 220-240v 50 Hz.
To compliment the Environmental Stress Cracking Apparatus (ESCA), a full set of tooling is supplied to prepare the sample ready for test. This includes, sample cutting die (38mm x 13mm), sample bending clamp, a sample nicking jig to initiate controlled stress points. and sample transfer tool for secure specimen management.
The ESCA measures environmental stress cracking resistance by simulating conditions where soaps, wetting agents, oils, or detergents accelerate mechanical failure, allowing for the identification of potential ruptures caused by tensile stresses significantly lower than a material’s short-time mechanical strength.
