Why Are Relative Humidity And Temperature Systems Used?

Their primary use is to monitor the air quality and comfort levels within an indoor space and log the data at set intervals. The data is transferable by USB cable, Wifi or SD card to a computer or mobile device where, using the correct software, you are able to analyse it.

A secondary use is to monitor ventilation systems or assess existing building moisture.

Where Are Humidity And Temperature Data Loggers Used?

Data loggers operate in various applications across multiple industries, such as:

Environmental Research

They are used to record climate change, weather patterns, seasonal changes and measure the temperature of our water systems. With their USB interface and rechargeable batteries, data loggers can be used in the field.

Energy Efficiency

From your home to schools to businesses, a humidity temperature data logger can record the readings at set intervals. The readings are often shown on an LCD display and could trigger an alarm if the reading falls outside of the set parameters.

Food Industry

Humidity and temperature measurements are critical for the food industry, as they prove that the food production has met the strict health and safety policies they must follow. Having recorded data provides evidence to the authorities and sellers.

The EC Directive 92/1 states that any business or organisation involved in the prep, storage or transportation of food must be able to prove that the RH and temperature levels have been maintained within the required parameters.

Laboratories

Temperature and humidity data loggers are critical for laboratories and the health care sector. For example, the World Health Organisation recommends that all vaccines be regularly monitored and kept within a temperature range of +2 to +8 °C during storage and transportation until administration.

Logistics

Monitoring the temperature and humidity through the cold chain, storage and transportation is essential to keep an organisation compliant with its HACCP. Having the combination of a temperature sensor and data storage in one device, a company can record and store the data, providing proof it has been compliant with its HACCP.

Agriculture

In the agriculture industry, the rearing of animals, growing fruit and vegetables, followed by storage and transportation, have to be undertaken under certain environmental conditions. An RH and temperature logger will monitor the environment and record the data. Proving predetermined conditions have been met and sustained.
