A leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions, paper products, and recycling services worldwide approached AML Instruments about repairing a rather old Box Compression Tester (BCT) controlled by an ancient and now long obsolete Axiomtek PC that was completely failing to turn on.
The goal was to quickly and efficiently identify the cause of the PC failure, determine if and how it could be repaired, and carry out a comprehensive test instrument repair service.

Background
Given the unique nature of the PC and its importance to the client’s testing operations, this repair came with several key challenges:

Solution & Outcome
- AML arranged a visit at the customer’s earliest convenience to carry out a physical inspection of the test equipment to diagnose the fault and determine if a repair was possible and cost-effective for the client.
- Once AML’s dedicated repair engineer had detected the problem and worked out a repair would be more cost-effective than replacing the asset, they took the equipment off-site and used the necessary tools to fix the PC and bring it back to the client in perfect working condition.
- The quick turnaround time (a total of three working days) meant the client’s lab testing schedule was barely impacted.
- New test equipment and instruments are often significant investments. As AML were able to repair the Axiomtek PC, it saved the client having to spend money on a costly replacement BCT.
