Welding Equipment Calibration Options

No matter which of our welding machine calibration services you choose, our fully trained and qualified engineers will calibrate your welding equipment to international standard IEC 60974-14.

We’ll pay you a visit

We book a date and time that works for you, and one of our strategically located engineers will come to your site and work their magic on your welding equipment. It really is that simple. This service is practical for larger pieces of welding equipment, while ensuring minimal disruption to your business.

Send your welding equipment to our lab

We’ll happily calibrate your welding equipment at our laboratory in Lincolnshire. This service is ideal for portable welding equipment like mini inverter welders and smaller arc welders. All we ask is you send it to us, and we’ll do the rest. Our standard turnaround time is 5 working days, but an express 24-48 hour welding machine calibration service is also available if you need to get back to welding sooner. However, this speedier service must be pre-booked.

All welding machines are returned via UPS with a traceable to National Standards welding calibration certificate. If your welding equipment fails calibration, our engineers will discuss you what is needed to pass.

Do welding machines need to be calibrated?

As already mentioned, the quality of the weld is dependent on repeatable elements such as voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed. Inaccurate welding machines lead to poor weld quality, safety hazards, and costly rework. Along with following proper maintenance guidelines, calibrating your welding machine is essential so it runs at its best capabilities.

You can trust our engineers to go through the meters on your welding machine and adjust them until they meet the specifications set forth by the manufacturer.

They calibrate welding equipment to the latest IEC standard 60971-14. This standard is in line with ISO9001 based quality systems, including BS EN 1090, and also gives you peace of mind that your equipment is electrically safe to use.

How often should welding machines be calibrated?

Calibration of standard grade welding equipment is typically carried out annually, while precision grade equipment is every six months. We recommend more frequent intervals if it’s suspected the performance has worsened, as well as after any repairs to the metering system or power supply.

Also consider the conditions in which your welding machines operate. For example, machines used offshore and in shipyards are usually tested every six months.

Types of welding machines we calibrate

While this list isn’t exhaustive, below are some of the different types of welding machines that AML Instruments can calibrate:

  • Arc welders
  • Atomic hydrogen welding machines
  • Energy bean welding machines
  • Flux core welders
  • MIG welders
  • Plasma arc welding machines
