Our onsite torque wrench calibration service couldn’t be easier. Give us a call and we’ll book you in a for a visit from one of our engineers. They’ll make the necessary adjustments to ensure your torque wrench’s accuracy and longevity, with a single torque wrench calibration taking less than 60 minutes.
Important: Our mobile team can only calibrate torque wrenches that measure 700 Nm and below. Anything above 700 Nm will need to be calibrated at our laboratory.
You can send your torque wrenches to our laboratory in Lincolnshire. The standard turnaround if you choose this option is five working days, unless you opt for our express service (see below).
We do not generally arrange collections, but will gladly arrange the return via UPS.
All torque and digital torque wrenches are returned with a traceable torque wrench calibration certificate.
Time of the essence? Don’t worry — we offer an express 24-48 hour torque wrench calibration service. This service must be pre-booked.
Our “Calibrate While You Wait” Service (requires pre-booking) is perfect for local Lincolnshire businesses or those working in the surrounding area. Whether you’re a mobile mechanic, service engineer, or part of a quality and inspection team, come grab a coffee and we’ll get your torque wrenches calibrated in the meantime. Before you know it, the job’s a good’un and you’ll be on your way.
Virtually, every testing tool requires calibrating to continue giving accurate readings and perform correctly. Some either forget or are unaware that a torque tool’s internal workings are made up of moving metal components that will wear, break, or crack. Extreme conditions or a severe drop increases the chance of damage, all leading to decreased accuracy. It’s not uncommon to see torque equipment with a 20 or 30% error in their torque readings!
Torque Wrenches are routinely adjusted during the calibration process to bring them back within specification, we always record the before and after adjustment figures on the calibration certificate.
For safety and quality assurance purposes, a torque wrench must be accurate.
The purpose of a torque wrench is to tighten bolts, nuts, or screws to a precise torque.
Applying a consistent and accurate torque to a bolt, nut, or screw is critical for it to securely hold whatever is in place. It’s important a bolt is not over tightened as it could break or shear. There have been many cases of car wheel nuts being over tightened and wheels falling off at high speed!
Most brands will recommend you calibrate your torque wrench yearly or after 5000 cycles. There are situations when this time or number of cycles should be reduced, i.e.,
To be on the safe side, it is recommended you send your torque tools to a calibration technician, as the process will be correctly documented, and he/she will be far more efficient at calibrating.
As an experienced calibration company, AML Instruments can offer ISO 6789-1:2017 and ISO 6789-2:2017 compliant checks for Type 1 (indicating) and Type 2 (setting) torque tools.
These two torque wrench calibration standards were conceived by the International Organisation for Standards for Type 1 (indicating) and Type 2 (setting) torque tools.
The SI unit of measurement for torque is the Newton Meter (Nm). This the force in Newtons at 1 meter from the axis of rotation.
Other common units of torque measurement are:
Our experienced team offer calibration on the following torque equipment and hand torque tools:
If you have any of the above hand held torque tools and need an annual calibration service with a traceable calibration certificate, we’d love to hear from you.
The cost of calibrating a torque wrench is split into two groups:
Under 400Nm: £44.50 Excl. VAT and return shipping.
401 – 1000Nm: £50 Excl. VAT and return shipping.
1001 – 1500Nm: £95 Excl. VAT and return shipping.
