This SWINTEK pendulum hardness tester uses the Persoz and König systems to accurately measure the surface hardness of coatings, paints, and inks. You can also use this device to evaluate the proper curing of the material though a controlled oscillation test.
The system allows the use of both the Persoz and König pendulums, with an integrated electronic switch to select the pendulum type according to the desired pendulum hardness test.

How does the SWINTEK pendulum work?
The equipment operates using a pendulum that oscillates freely on two balls resting on the surface of the sample. The speed at which the oscillation decays indicates surface hardness:
- Hard surface → slower oscillation.
- Soft surface → faster oscillation.

Pendulum Characteristics
The Persoz is quadrangular, weighs 500 g and is released at 12°, while the König is triangular, weighs 200 g and is released at 6°. Both measure hardness, but Persoz produces more oscillations on standard glass than König.
