Stainless Steel Liquid Pycnometer

Price range: £186.36 through £222.73

This liquid pycnometer is used to determine the specific gravity or density of adhesives, inks, paints, pastes, and other industrial liquids. Its stainless steel construction makes it suitable for working with harsh chemicals because of its superior corrosion resistance.

Two different capacities are also available (50 cc and 100 cc), with or without a tare function for balanced measurements.

The 50 cc model is ideal for small samples, while the 100 cc pycnometer is suitable for higher-volume tests.

Important: For a reliable test, the use of a compatible precision balance is recommended.

Benefits

  • Ensures highly accurate measurement of the specific gravity of paints, inks, and adhesives.
  • Provides consistent and repeatable results in quality control laboratories, manufacturing plants for paints, etc.
  • Tare option for balanced and fast measurements.
  • Calibrated design ensures constant volume.
  • Easy to clean for long-lasting durability.
  • Meets standards UNE EN ISO 2811 and ASTM 1475.

Step-by-step guide to using your pycnometer

  1. Weigh the empty pycnometer (if no tare is available).
  2. Fill it almost completely with the product to be analysed.
  3. Place the lid: excess liquid will be expelled through the upper hole.
  4. Clean the exterior and the lid to avoid residue.
  5. Weigh it again and subtract the weight of the empty container.
  6. Calculate the specific gravity using the obtained density.
  7. Clean the instrument after each use to maintain its accuracy.

Common pycnometer uses

  • Analysis of inks, adhesives, and varnishes.
  • Density and specific gravity testing in laboratories.
  • Quality control in paints and varnishes.
