How to Use Your Precision Grindometer

1. Pour a few drops of the sample into the deepest part of the grindometer slot.
2. Use the scraper at a slight angle to spread the product across the slot.
3. Hold the grindometer at eye level and read the scale NS or FPVPC where pigment particles are visible.
4. For volatile paints, read within 15 minutes; for synthetic enamels and oils, read within one minute.

Tips For Accuracy:

• Avoid using hot freshly-ground paint on a cold grindometer to prevent coagulation.
• Thin high-viscosity paints with 10–15% high-volatility solvent for smooth readings.
• Paints with spillage time <15 seconds (DIN cup) may not provide precise measurements.
• Keep the grindometer at eye level, use the scraper at a slight angle, and read scales where pigment particles are visible.
• Avoid hot samples and excessive viscosity.
