Keane-Tator Surface Profile Comparator Gauge

£486.36

Manufactured by Neurtek

Ideal for coating inspectors and surface preparation professionals, this compact and durable surface profile comparator gauge is used to determine the surface profile of blast-cleaned surfaces.

It covers sand, shot, and grit surface profiles, offering quick, precise and versatile surface evaluation, as well as dual-mode inspection (visual and tactile).

Using an illuminated 5X magnifier and reference disc, the comparator helps determine whether the surface profile meets the required specifications before painting or coating.

Benefits

  • Allows for quick, reliable comparison of blasted surfaces with standardised roughness levels.
  • Compact and rugged for field use.
  • Conforms to ASTM D4417.
  • Ensures consistent preparation before coating.
  • Five different grades of roughness in each comparator.
  • Includes a 5X magnifier and vinyl case.

How Does The Surface Profile Comparator Work?

Visual Method:

  1. Place the disc beneath the magnifier.
  2. Position the magnifier on the blast-cleaned surface.
  3. Visually compare the surface texture with the disc’s segments.
  4. Use the “V” markers between sections for greater accuracy.

Tactile Method:

  1. Touch the blasted surface with your fingertip or a soft wooden pencil.
  2. Compare the tactile feel with the disc segments to determine the profile depth.

What’s Included?

  • High-purity nickel electroformed reference disc.
  • 5X illuminated magnifier for detailed inspection.
  • Vinyl case for protection and portability.

Each reference disc is a precise copy of a master disc, duplicated within ±50 microinches, and is available for sand (S), shot (SH), or grit/slag (G/S) blasted surfaces.
