The MFR100 facilitates the manual testing of molten polymers. Using a dead weight system, users can extrude polymers through a precision-controlled die under specified conditions. The extrusion is manually cut and weighed. By timing the extrusion process, the Melt Flow Index (MFI) or Melt Mass Flow Rate (MFR) in grams per 10 minutes is easily calculated, offering straightforward insights into the polymer’s flow characteristics.

Robust Build with Optional Enhancements:

This melt flow indexer is equipped with a hardened steel cylinder liner, easily replaceable to accommodate different testing needs or materials, including corrosive ones, with an optional upgrade to Hastelloy. It includes a tungsten carbide die and hardened steel piston, complete with a 2.16 kg test load, enabling immediate operation immediately.

Precision Temperature and Timing Controls:

Temperature control in the MFR100 is managed by a 16th DIN temperature controller, which displays both set and actual values. The included PT100 Platinum Resistance Thermocouple ensures accurate temperature control within 0.1°C across dual heating zones, maintaining consistency along the length of the barrel to meet international standards. An integrated digital timer helps to time the extrusion accurately for precise manual cuts.

Ease of Use and Maintenance:

The MFR100 features a manual die release mechanism designed for simplicity and ease of maintenance. Optional accessories like a pneumatic weight loader facilitate handling heavier test weights and simplify the cleaning process with a tool holder for an integrated cleaning tool.
