Schopper-Riegler Type Freeness Tester

Schopper-Riegler Type Freeness Tester

Manufactured by Techlab Systems

The Schopper-Riegler Type Freeness Tester determines the rate of drainage of the pulp in a diluted suspension and the rate of drainage corresponds to the swelling of the fibres and surface conditions. This apparatus is used widely to assess the drainage rate of many chemical pulps during refining and beating.

The Schopper-Riegler test quickly provides an idea of the degree of refining that is related to the drainage rate of a dilute pulp suspension.
Drainage speed has been shown to be related to surface conditions and fiber dilation, and is a useful indicator of the amount of mechanical treatment (refining) to which cellulose pulp is subjected.

This method is applicable to all types of pastes in aqueous suspension, except for those extremely short fiber pulps.
Measurement scale in SR degrees:
• A scale with a discharge of 1000 ml, corresponds to 0 º SR
• A 0 ml discharge corresponds to 100 º SR.
• Every 10 ml of water poured through the lateral hole in the graduated glass
represents 1 º SR

Schopper-Riegler Freeness Tester is similar in operation to the Canadian Freeness Tester, however the pulp samples have a lower concentration and the scale is reversed.

Schopper-Riegler Type Freeness Tester Conforms to the requirements of BS 6035/1,  ISO 5267/1, NF Q 50-003 & SCAN C 19/M3
